Met Engineers has been appointed to design highways and drainage infrastructure for the new Fox Valley housing development at Stocksbridge, north Sheffield, one of the largest regeneration projects currently under-way in Yorkshire.
Plans for a housing development as part of the Fox Valley master plan were first approved in 2011 and building partner Stonebridge Homes has now submitted a detailed application for the site to deliver a high quality residential scheme alongside the commercial and retail development.
The scheme covers 7.6 acres and includes three and four bedroom executive style homes, which will be a mixture of detached and semi-detached properties to be developed on the land adjacent to the main retail site at Fox Valley, alongside the river with attractive woodland walks.
This marks a return to Fox Valley for Met Engineers, the Leeds based firm having previously provided structural, civil and drainage design for the 15 acre commercial and retail elements that comprised phase one works.
Ground works have already started to prepare the site and if plans are approved construction work on the first phase of housing will get underway next year with the first 25 houses ready for completion in Spring / Summer 2016 when the Fox Valley retail and commercial development is also scheduled to open.
The new homes will have direct access off the A616 with a new link road which is currently under construction. As well as the new link road and housing development the Fox Valley scheme will also deliver high spec office space as well as a Tesco store and further retail and restaurant units.
The £42m Fox Valley development has been brought forward by Dransfield Properties with investment from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 20 07-2013 which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government, and is one of the largest project commissions awarded Met Engineers to date.
