Project Overview

Kirkstall Forge is one the largest urban regeneration schemes underway in the North of England, with over £400m of private sector investment committed to the development of a new riverside community on a 57 acre former metalworking site.

Iron production has been undertaken on the Kirkstall Forge site since the 1500s and continued up until its closure in 2003. In July 2007, outline approval was granted to redevelop the site for a mix of use including residential, commercial and leisure provision served by a new railway station.

In 2016, the opening of the new Kirkstall Forge station marked a major milestone in the scheme and building work has also started with the first 110,000 sq ft, seven-story flagship office due for completion in 2017. Once completed Kirkstall Forge will comprise a mixed-use community of 1,050 new homes, 300,000 sq ft of offices and 100,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and community space in a wooded, riverside setting, creating around 2,400 new jobs.

Technical Overview

In 2011, Met Consultancy Group performed extensive land and building surveys ahead of initial site clearance with works commencing in 2013 and we have since returned to conduct environmental geophysics investigations to inform evolving proposals for the scheme. We are currently on site conducting utility surveys to provide quality assurance ahead of new ground works.
