Project Overview
The £40m masterplan for an innovation and enterprise centre at the University of Leeds offers a gateway facility to help businesses access the University’s world-class research, and aims to further the Universities’ position as one of the UK’s premier higher education institutions.
The 10,000m2 centre, to be named Nexus, will be built at the south edge of the University of Leeds campus close to the city centre. Nexus will serve as a hub for the growing innovation community as well as national and international organisations, creating new jobs and investment. Spread over six floors, the proposed building comprises high quality office space and laboratory accommodation, a business lounge, café, meeting rooms, conference facilities and exhibition space.
Technical Overview
Met Consultancy Group have been involved in supplying information for this site since 2009. In 2015, Met provided topographical and utility mapping surveys along with drawings of surrounding building facades. This information was needed to inform the designs and plans which were approved in September 2016.
Over the years’ other work has included inspections of drainage condition using CCTV and site investigations using non-intrusive geophysical techniques to identify sub-surface hazards that may impact upon the construction phase.
The University of Leeds have been a client for over 20 years. We are proud to have provided numerous surveys around the campus for many of the redevelopments and upgrades to buildings and external space; which have helped contribute to its’ position as one of the leading educational and research establishments in the UK, and one of the top 100 universities in the world.
