One of the largest regeneration schemes underway in the Leeds city region, and a centrepiece of the city’s presentation at MIPIM 2017 in Cannes, is being built on survey data collated over 10 years by Met Consultancy Group.
Leeds City Council passed a reserved matters planning application for Thorpe Park last year, with the proposed 300,000 sq ft shopping and leisure-park set to include a 60,000 sq ft cinema alongside a number of big name retailers. The development is also proposed to include: offices covering 940,000 sq ft, 300 new residential homes and a 13 acre public park, as part of the £400m scheme.
Between 2007 and 2016, Met Consultancy Group performed extensive topographical surveys to land and rail areas across the site. Our initial survey work informed preliminary investigations by our client, and this was followed by further surveys to land and highways infrastructure, including a former munitions depot with significant archeological interest. As well as providing topographic survey data, Met also surveyed drainage in detail, producing invert levels and pipe size diagrams.
Thorpe Park was presented at the MIPIM property conference as an example of excellence in public/private sector partnering in the region. As well as highlighting the progress of phase two development already underway, the project team revealed plans for the new railway link and associated park-and-ride, which forms part of a £270m infrastructure investment into Leeds by the Department of Transport.
