Met Consultancy Group provided laser scanning and high level GPR on the St John the Evangelist Church in Oulton, South Leeds.
Project Overview
St John the Evangelist Church in Oulton, south Leeds, is a gothic revival building built in 1829. It has been closed since being stripped by lead thieves in November 2015 which dislodged roof tiles and caused the 186-year-old church to flood. Now it is hoped this landmark south Leeds church will be brought back to its original condition as part of a six-figure community project.
Laser Scanning & GPR Overview
Met Consultancy performed internal and external laser scanning of the church elevation to create floor plans and elevations to inform architect plans for refurbishment and initial repairs that will prevent further deterioration of structure and interior. High level GPR of the parapets over the Clerestory was performed to check for metalwork connectors and dowels inside ashlar stone blocks. Access was an issue to the grounds and high levels so a tracked boom lift platform was hired to enable the GPR work to be undertaken safely.
