It was good to see the Chain Street redevelopment in Bradford completed delivering 16 affordable homes and the conversion of two blocks of bedsits and flats for social housing group, Incommunities in 2013. It’s even better to see the completion of 32 new homes on the site next door giving a huge boost to the regeneration of Goitside
A partnership project between Bradford Council Incommunities and QSH, the new homes in Chain Street have been built by Barnfield Construction, as part of the second phase of a scheme to transform the Goitside area of the city. The Met engineering team has been involved on this scheme since its early stages, providing demolitions assessments for the original site buildings and intrusive ground investigation works.
We also assisted Barnfield Construction with a full complement of civil and structural services, including formal highway stopping up, road and sewer design details, foundations and superstructure review as well as all structural, civil and highways engineering services for this project.
Barnfield Construction built all 32 homes at the scheme, retaining 10 units for sale, with 12 earmarked for the private rented sector. Chain Street represents one of the largest redevelopment projects by QSH and the Central Bradford Area. It is hoped that the final stage of these works will commence shortly with the construction of the Linear Park by Bradford MDC to fully compliment these two phases of development.
